There are many weekly markets on the Costa Blanca, also called open-air markets (Mercadillo) are very popular. Every day there is a market somewhere, not only during the week, but also on weekends. Some weekly markets can also be visited in the evening.

Weekly markets are very popular in Spain and are frequented by locals, residents and tourists alike. Prices are usually much more favorable than in stores. The advice is to arrive early.

What goes for any market, beware of pickpockets, they are especially active where many people congregate, like at these weekly markets. So keep a close eye on your wallet and purse.
